Yves Saint Laurent - One of the greatest designers in fashion history, who was the most influential and famous for introducing a tuxedo suit for women, referencing other cultures in his works as well as being the first designer to use ethnic models in his runway shows. He had come to Paris from French Algeria, the son of a wealthy businessman. His career was assured in Paris after winning a prize for a cocktail dress, which caught the eye of Dior in 1954, who made Saint Laurent his assistant. He rose to become a chief designer after three years of working there, taking over from Christian Dior after his sudden death.
Here YSL at his apartment in Paris, on October 27, 1995 with model Sibyl Buck and photographed by Jean-Marie Périer.
