Going Home by Leonard Cohen

I love to speak with Leonard

He’s a sportsman and a shepherd

He’s a lazy bastard

Living in a suit

But he does say what I tell him

Even though it isn’t welcome

He will never have the freedom

To refuse

He will speak these words of wisdom

Like a sage, a man of vision

Though he knows he’s really nothing

But the brief elaboration of a tube

Going home

Without my sorrow

Going home

Sometime tomorrow

To where it’s better

Than before

Going home

Without my burden

Going home

Behind the curtain

Going home

Without the costume

That I wore

He wants to write a love song

An anthem of forgiving

A manual for living with defeat

A cry above the suffering

A sacrifice recovering

But that isn’t what I want him to complete

I want to make him certain

That he doesn’t have a burden

That he doesn’t need a vision

That he only has permission

To do my instant bidding

That is to SAY what I have told him

To repeat

Going home

Without my sorrow

Going home

Sometime tomorrow

Going home

To where it’s better

Than before

Going home

Without my burden

Going home

Behind the curtain

Going home

Without the costume

That I wore

I love to speak with Leonard

He’s a sportsman and a shepherd

He’s a lazy bastard

Living in a suit

The question of whether fashion should be protected by copyright is an interesting one, but Louboutin suing YSL over red soles is a bit much. Louboutin did not invent the red sole, I’ve heard it was a French aristocrat thing. And remember Dries’ red heels one season? Someone said red heels originally signified that that the woman was a witch. Read more about the case in The New York Times here: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/22/opinion/sunday/louboutin-and-the-little-red-litigious-shoes.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=louboutin&st=cse

All The Sad Young Pretty Girls

Some commentary on Marie Calloway, and a cool website to get lost in.

http://thoughtcatalog.com/2011/all-the-sad-young-pretty-girls/

Have you heard about the writer Marie Calloway and her story “Adrien Brody”? It’s caused some kind of scandal in the internet writing community, I guess. All the commentary is interesting but sign me up for Team Marie.
Read it here on Tao Lin’s website http://muumuuhouse.com/mc.fiction1.html

Guy: Hey yoga girl, I just wanna get to know ya girl, we could hit up Rawvolution or the Urth Cafe, have a vegan cookie and talk about your day.

Yoga Girl: I’m gonna grab a coconut water and be on my way, I wish you peace and blessings, namaste. (with just a slight roll of the eye)

The scary/hilar thing is we have all actually heard this conversation.

Very excited to be entertaining Isis Aquarian this evening in Topanga. She was one of the 14 wives of the late Father Yod. She’s coming by to see the painting of her late husband by Rives Granade that is hanging over the fireplace. Wonder if Isis will have a martini with me?

Mona loves…Friday Night Lights

So, I know it looks ridiculous…I know it doesn’t scream intelligent writing…BUT MY GOSH WHAT A SHOW!!!!! Very clever writing with a strong sense of the social stress in Texas football. And with a soundtrack consisting of Explosions In The Sky and I’m pretty sure I heard ISIS in there once, You cannot go wrong!!!!!! I started last Sunday and I’m half way through season 3…

-Ben

P.S. No other show has ever had such a great soundtrack. FACT.

Mona loves…Immanu El

Hey people,

So completely unaware to me, the new album ‘In Passage’ from Immanu El was released through the cracks. Maybe i’ve been too out of the loop with the genre but this is a great great great 8 track release. Huge step up from the last album from beginning to end and much better mix of instrumentation. Enjoy.
